slotting advice from a slot slut
My friends have always been shocked at how “lucky” I am with slots, and have asked me to share my secret with them. I have never hit a big jackpot, but I have hit multiple mini jackpots. My best one of all time was from a high limit slot ($15 per spin), when I got 7 7 7 on my third spin. Yes, most of it is luck, but I don’t believe I’m luckier than anyone else. So, here are some of the rules I always follow when approaching the slots:
1. Never put more than $100 at a time into a slot machine, but expect to lose $100 before you win.
2. Stick with slots only in the day time, they pay out less at night.
3. If you lose 8 consecutive spins in a row, stand up and leave.
4. Always sit at the slot furthest to the left in the row.
5. Always, always play the max bet.
6. Avoid nickel slots completely (unless it is The Price Is Right machine).
7. Do not play table games on the machine (i.e.- video poker, digital roulette, blackjack).
Speaking of Blackjack, which is one of the best games man has ever invented, here are some of my rules:
1. If you are smart enough, count cards (or at least keep track of approximately how many face cards came out).
2. Color up whenever you can and put the chips away.
3. Do not sit at a table with a female dealer, but always tip the dealer.
4. Always sit at the “anchor” or the seat all the way to the left.
5. Do not share a table with people who have no idea what they’re doing (i.e.- hitting on a 19).
6. It is OK to sit out for a few hands. You do not have to keep playing until you have no money left.
7. And of course, always assume the dealer’s hidden card is a ten.
Ok, to keep a lucky triple seven in this post, I’ll go ahead and list another set of rules for gambling in general:
1. Never gamble on an even date.
2. Luck does happens, but it is very fleeting. The second you start losing, stop playing.
3. When you feel your emotions taking over, stop playing.
4. When you feel the alcohol taking over, stop playing.
(in other words, just know when to stop!)
5. Gamble with a friend, but don’t have a non-gambling friend stand behind you and watch. (You’re going to associate them with your loss/win.)
6. Only bring as much cash as you are willing to lose, and do not hit the ATM.
7. Do not make gambling more important than sleep or food.*
*I want to especially stress this last one. Remember that gambling is a game. It is supposed to be fun. Please do not make it a lifestyle or your main source of income as my father has. Now go, be confident, take risks, and have fun!
Oh yea, and good luck.
